Welcome to Chiang Rai Sabai
After spending some time in different locations around South East Asia (mainly in Thailand) I decided to create this website after talking to a good friend that inspired me to do so.
The idea of the website is to share knowledge, tips and experiences about Chiang Rai and Thailand.
The first contact with Chiang Rai was back in 2013 and was in a day trip from Chiang Mai that took me to the White Temple, later to the Golden Triangle and finally to do a quick Visa Run to Mae Sae Border.

Meaning of SABAI
The Thai word ‘SABAI’ (สบาย) directly translates to ‘comfortable’ in English. In Thai, repeating a word emphasizes or intensifies its meaning. For example, if someone says that Thai food is ‘aroi maak maak’, it means the food is very delicious. Similarly, ‘sabai sabai’ (สบายสบาย) can be understood as ‘very comfortable’. However, it’s important to note that the phrase ‘sabai sabai’ holds a deeper significance than this simple translation conveys.
