Conveniently located near the Train Station, it’s one of the first landmarks you’ll see when arriving by train.
This first-class royal temple is a must-see for history and architecture enthusiasts. The current structure was commissioned by King Rama IV in 1853 to cover the original ancient pagoda. The bell-shaped stupa, inspired by Sri Lankan design, enshrines the relics of Lord Buddha.

Nakhon Pathom is just about 50 kilometers (31 miles) from Bangkok, making it an easy day trip. If you’re traveling from Bkk, you can take a bus, train, or taxi. I personally arrived by train from Ratchaburi, which was a smooth and convenient way to get to Nakhon Pathom.
The train station in Nakhon Pathom connects conveniently to Bkk, with most trains arriving at the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station. The journey takes about 1 hour, with options such as 2nd Class AC seats. Trains run regularly, making it an affordable way to travel between the two cities.
I suggest buying tickets in advance at the train station or through 12goasia.com if you don’t have the chance to visit the train station beforehand.
Nakhon Pathom Nightlife
Nakhon Pathom may not have the bustling nightlife scene of Bangkok, but it still offers a few cool Bars. When I visited, I noticed that there were almost no farang (foreigners) around, and most of the people at these places were Thai locals.

However, I recommend sticking to Grab, Bolt, or other taxis for convenience, especially if you’re staying just one day. These ride-hailing services are affordable and much easier than renting a vehicle.
However, I don’t recommend renting a motorcycle if you’re only staying for one day. Since Nakhon Pathom is relatively small and most of the main attractions are close to each other. You can easily get around using Grab or Bolt, or motorcycle taxis, which are more cost-effective and convenient for a short stay.
